Whole Irish Moss (Chondrus Crispus)

from $21.00

MousseDeMer whole Irish Moss (Chondrus Crispus) needs to be cleaned and soaked just like seamoss. Irish moss, also known as Chondrus Crispus unlike sea moss, is a seaweed native to the rocky northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It is a dark, leafy seaweed. It is not sea moss, which is more stringy, stick-like, and native to the southern, tropical Atlantic ocean. Soak, clean and blend your Irish moss easily at home yourself!

Irish moss includes Vitamins

Vitamin A

Vitamin E

Vitamin K

Calcium

Potassium

Sulfur

It is also a naturally occurring source of iodine, which can be difficult to include in one’s diet through food alone, and is especially important for supporting healthy thyroid functioning.

Rich in potassium chloride, Irish moss helps with congestion and mucus and holds anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

It’s also thought to be good for dry skin and for skin conditions ranging from eczema to psoriasis, making it a valued ingredient for lotions and moisturizers

How to prepare

Soak 1/2 cup of dry Chondrus Crispus in spring water for at least 4 hours. Rinse thoroughly, put rehydrated moss in the blender with 2 cups of water and blend until it becomes smooth. Pour into a mason jar or any other air tight container or pour into an ice tray to make ice cubes and freeze/refrigerate for at least 2 hours prior to first use. Once the Chondrus crispus has been soaked and blended it must be kept in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness.

If the mixture is too thick for your liking add additional small amounts of spring  water as you blend.

Use 2-4 spoonfuls or 1-2 Ice cubes daily!
